Let's kick things off by hearing the story behind how Yassira Drops of Grace came into existence. What inspired you to start this skincare brand?
For over 30 years, I’ve been immersed in the beauty and nail industry, running successful salons and earning the title of Nail Professional of the Year three times at the British Beauty & Spa Awards. My journey has been one of passion, exploration, and a deep desire to provide clients with truly transformative experiences.
Years of working hands-on with clients gave me unique insights into what makes a product truly effective. While I loved exploring new products, I often found myself yearning for something that didn’t just tick some boxes but delivered a complete, lasting transformation. I dreamed of creating products that could nurture the skin while offering an indulgent, sensory experience. Yassira Drops of Grace was born out of that dream—a marriage of my love for nature, my fascination with the science of skincare, and my commitment to creating something deeply personal and effective. It’s my way of sharing a piece of my heart with anyone who seeks not just beauty, but a connection to the gifts of the Earth.
Can you share the origin of the name "Yassira Drops of Grace"? Is there a special meaning or significance behind it?
The name is filled with layers of meaning that are deeply personal to me.
• Yas comes from Yasmin, a name that holds my passion and energy for everything I create.
• Si means “Yes!”—an affirmation of positivity, possibility, and confide
• Ra is inspired by the Egyptian Sun God, symbolizing power, light, and vitality.
“Drops of Grace” encapsulates the philosophy behind our brand. Nature offers us the most exquisite treasures - plants, oils, and botanicals - that nurture us holistically. To me, these “drops” are tiny miracles, carrying the essence of nature’s grace and power. Each product feels like a gift from Heaven, a reminder of the beauty and abundance around us. “Yassira”, in Arabic, means ease and abundance - a reminder that beauty and self-love should never feel like a struggle.
How did you come to prioritise natural ingredients in your skincare products?
Our world is becoming more conscious about what we consume, whether it’s the food we eat, the products we use on our skin, or the environment we create in our homes. There’s a growing awareness about the toxic load we can accumulate over time - even when individual ingredients seem harmless, their cumulative effect can be overwhelming.
For me, the question was simple: If we can achieve the same, or even better, results with natural ingredients, why wouldn’t we? Nature offers us alternatives that are not only effective but also gentle and kind to our bodies and the Earth. My journey into natural ingredients began as I started to question the hidden elements in high-end products I used and sold. This curiosity led me to extensive research and a commitment to creating formulations that are both luxurious and natural.
Your formulas are really something special! Can you walk us through your creative process when developing new skincare products? What steps do you take from idea to final product?
Thank you - it means so much to hear that people find our formulas special! My creative process always starts with a personal or client need. I ask myself, What do I want this product to do and achieve? How do I want it to feel and smell? From there, I dive into research, exploring ingredients that can deliver the desired results while staying true to our ethos of natural, effective, and indulgent skincare. I work intuitively too and have an inner sense knowing of which ingredients will work perfectly together. Then, I test, refine and test again until every element - from the texture to the aroma - feels like an expression of love. My products aren’t just solutions; they’re experiences designed to nurture the skin and the soul.
The rejuvenating facial oil serum has obviously been a hit in the VBA office! What would you say is your personal favourite product from your line, and what makes it stand out for you?
That’s like asking me to pick a favourite child! But if I had to choose, the Rejuvenating Face Oil Serum and Face Cleansing Balm stand out as a dynamic duo. They share the same essential oil blend, which not only smells divine but also works wonders for the skin. Together, they create a ritual of cleansing, nourishing, and pure indulgence.
Running your own business must come with its ups and downs. What has been the most rewarding part of your entrepreneurial journey so far?
Running an independent brand has its challenges, but the rewards are immeasurable. In the past year, I’ve seen incredible growth and an influx of repeat customers. Knowing that people come back time and again because my products genuinely improve their skin - that’s the ultimate reward. It’s a privilege to be part of someone’s skincare journey and to see my vision resonate with so many.
You've received a lot of positive feedback from customers. What has been the most memorable or impactful piece of feedback you've received?
Every piece of feedback warms my heart, but the most memorable moments are when someone with sensitive skin tells me how my products have transformed their complexion. Many of these individuals have only ever trusted big, well-known brands, and it’s a profound joy to see them fall in love with a natural alternative. I’ll never forget a customer who told me my cleansing balm was better than a famous luxury brand’s version. It’s moments like these - when people light up after trying my products - that fuel my passion.
Looking ahead, what exciting plans or goals do you have for Yassira Drops of Grace in the future? Any new products on the horizon?
I’m so excited about what’s on the horizon!
We’re currently developing:
• An Eye & Lip Balm with ceramides and an anhydrous form of hyaluronic acid.
• Body Care products, including a scrub, oil, and lotion.
And these are the areas I also see coming in the future.
• A Teen Range, because young skin deserves love too.
• A Men’s Range, drawing on my husband’s expertise as a men’s barber to create something tailored and effective.
Each new product is a chance to expand our vision of holistic beauty and bring more grace into people’s lives.
